We had an amazing time! Our guide, Clydea, was professional and friendly. Her beautiful horses, Dude and Big Red, were wonderful! I've been on several third party trail rides and I've never been on horses as responsive as these. The private setting (just us and the guide) afforded us the opportunity to go at our own pace. I would definitely recommend Clydea and Windwalkers to anyone looking for an experience above the rest!

During my second visit to the Phoenix and with very little convincing from my mom, we decided to go horseback riding during our vacation. After a little web research I happend upon the Windwalker website and I can't express my excitement to have found a company that will allow you to really ride a horse not just follow the one in front of you. Our guide Barry was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and was able to show us some very beautiful scenery. My mom and both enjoyed ourselves so much that we can't wait to go back again! Thank you so much Barry and Windwalker for such an enjoyable experience.

There is no better way to get to know a region than on horseback and Windwalker Expeditions provided that for us. I'm from Washington state and my friend Denise arranged a horseback ride like I've never had before. We had a great guide who provided us with an entertaining tour in part of spectacular Tonto National Forest. Barry Moffett supplied us with beautiful horses that were impressively trained and well mannered, in excellent physical condition and meticulously groomed and outfitted with impeccable tack. He immediately put us at ease about riding unfamiliar horses with his casual cowboy manner; he accurately assessed our riding abilities and accordingly provided us with an adventure to match our skill level and treat us to an exciting ride and a breathtaking introduction to desert splendor. He entertained us with cheerful conversation, stories and information about the beautiful Arizona high desert. This was a riding adventure that we won't forget and I wholeheartedly recommend that you book a ride with Windwalker Expeditions---ask for Barry and tell him Susan and Denise sent you.

Truly one of the best days ever on horseback! My friend, Susan and I were not sure what to expect but we were so pleasantly surprised. Our guide was Barry Moffett and he was the quintessential cowboy. He was an excellent guide...telling us all about Tonto National Forest and the flora and fauna of the area. Safety was very important. We came across some people with a dog off leash and he made sure we were both safe from any unexpected situation we might have been put in. Our ride was beautiful. The scenery breathtaking. Both of us have experience riding and Barry made sure we got to use our skills! Lots of trotting, cantering, hills and in now way your typical "nose to butt" trail ride. I rode Shortcake, his blonde Paint. He was perfect! Susan rode Chief, a black and white Paint that had excellent manners and was fun to ride. Thank you Barry, Shortcake and Chief for a memorable day! We will ride again with Wind Walker.

What to get my wife for her birthday? It didn’t take long to find the perfect thing. WindWalker Expeditions had just the thing – a 2 hour horseback riding adventure in the Tonto forest, Arizona. Riding horses is something she loves, not so much for me, but it is her birthday – so I signed us up. We arrived at our designated spot and the excitement was high. Me – will I was a little nervous since I’ve been on a horse only once in my lifetime. Kayla was excited though (It’s a hit!). Barry was our guide and from the start we knew we were in good hands. 10 years of rodeo riding, many more taking people out riding, or packing in. Safety was upmost in his mind and he watched over us during the whole ride. But there was so much to the ride. Barry kept us entertained with stories and experiences while we saw some of the most beautiful country in America. Up, down, all around – It was all fun. I learned how to lead a horse and to my surprise it was one of the best entertainment ventures I have been on in my 59 years. Kayla was full of wonder and excitement as we rode fast up a hill, slow down the next, through the canyons of the country. Trotting the horse was completely new to me and what a wild experience. In the end, we saw beautiful country, had a breathtaking ride with the best guild one could have had. My nerves were not an issue from the moment I got up on the horse. I surprised even myself when, at the end I said, “We have to do this again – where to next time?” For those who have not had this experience – ask for Barry and know you will love it. For those who love to ride – it’s the most fun, the most beautiful and the best company anyone can have. Thanks Barry and thanks to WindWalker for the best birthday present ever. How am I going to possibly top this? Barry – Where to next?

I have never had so much fun horseback riding. Joseph was a great instructor! Seeing three rattlesnakes was exciting. Joseph knew a lot about his environment. I would recommend any body to go and see what Arizona is like. There is not one thing here in Illinois to compare this too!! Thank you all so very much!

Thank you Joseph at Windwalker Expeditions!!! You were an awesome guide :) My niece and I had such a wonderful morning exploring the wilderness - it was the ultimate horseback experience! Have to say that this was the most enjoyable "non-trail" ride ever...loved being able to trot & canter!!! Your horses are beautiful and so well trained. Thank you!

My husband and I went out with Clydea as our guide. This was the best horseback ride we've ever been on! The trails were much wider than we'd anticipated, and they snaked through lovely canyons with scrub oak and juniper. We trotted and cantered - it was like being in a movie. We'll definitely be back! Thank you, Barbara

We had an amazing time today. The scenery was incredible and included a waterfall in the desert. We have been on several guided tours in AZ and this is by far the best. Barry's horses were in great shape and we felt confident in his knowledge and handling to go a bit above our experience and trot and go faster. We will definitely be booking on our next trip! Thank you so much, Barry and Windwalker!

The private ride we had with Clydea was spectacular. It was an awesome scenic ride through the beautiful hills of Cave Creek. Clydea provided so much information about the history of the town and all the different plants and trees, as we traveled through the serene desert. Our horseback ride adventure was also the perfect blend of relaxing walking, happy trotting, and invigorating loping of our horses. It was the highlight of our vacation and we can't wait to come back. Thank you, Clydea!

We had a wonderful experience. My 13 year old daughter and I both have some riding experience, but my husband does not (and would much rather be on the golf course), and all of us had a great ride. The terrain was beautiful and exciting and the horses were well mannered and capable. Our guide, Barry Moffet, was great! He made the ride fun and informative for all of us. Thank you! We will definitely do this again when we are in AZ next time.

It was awesome! Our guide, Barry, was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He had a ton of fun stories and it was great talking with him. Not only was he well versed in the desert flora and fauna, but he had a lot of experience with the area and told us about each part we passed. He also took us to some of his personal favorite spots. We highly recommend both him and Windwalker Expeditions to anyone looking for a great trip through the Arizona desert.

This was our second time to ride with Windwalker. Our guide Barry was fantastic and took us on some beautiful and challenging trails. We rode two of his steer-roping quarter horses and they were great. It's such a pleasure to ride well-trained horses through such majestic desert areas, places you would never see otherwise. Thank you! We are already planning a trip for next year and Windwalker will be part of it.

AMAZING!! Once a year I head to AZ for my one weekend of horseback riding. I heard about Windwalker Expeditions and had the pleasure to ride with Joseph in 2010, 2011 and just scheduled my upcoming trip for 2012 with him. I can't say enough regarding how professional he is and how well trained his horses are. Each ride is a wonderful, and one of kind learning experience. During the ride Joseph pointed out various vegetation forms that you could eat if ever stranded in the dessert. I learn something new each ride. I send much thanks to Dan as well for sharing so much with me about AZ and its history. If you are looking for a very professional company to book a ride with that will pair you up with a professional guide and horses then WWE is the company to go with.

Hello, While planning a vacation with my Daughter to AZ, we decided to go Horseback Riding in the Deserts of Arizona. I consulted with several places before choosing Wind Walkers. I spoke with "Joseph" via phone and felt so comfortable and knew he was trustworthy in his conversation. Upon arrival, Joseph was the one! We also had the pleasure of meeting Debbie, very sweet Lady! The Trailers were very clean and orderly, and we felt so confident in our ride to be, and could not wait to experience! Whether you are a Novice or Experienced, they have the Ride for you. We enjoyed the desert. Joseph took his time with us explaining every step of the way. The different types of Catcus were just amazing alone. The Horses are very well maintained and highly trained, no fear here! I felt like I could comfortably ride a horse with walk , trot or gallop after my experience with "Wind Walkers" I highly recommend and will be back next year for the 5 hr Ride! Blessings, Billie & Georganna Davisson

While planning to attend an HR Forum in AZ, I decided to try to find time to follow my dream of riding in the desert. A life-long rider, I wanted more than just following the horse in front of me and walking with just an occasional jog. I found Windwalker Expeditions by chance – spoke to Joseph – and booked a ride for 2.5 hours. I mentioned my plans to a co-worker who also rides and we made the arrangements to ride together. It was the best decision I ever made. WOW! – The scenery, the horses, Joseph…. Laura and I will never forget this experience! I rode Jasper (he was a dream). Laura’s horse was perfect for her. Joseph was exceptional. He quickly assessed our riding skills and then led us on some beautiful and sometimes challenging trails. We were able to go at a good speed through some georgeous winding areas and up some hills – it was totally thrilling. During the slower times, Joseph really gave usa lot of interesting information about the desert (wildlife and plants). We couldn’t have asked for more – this was an experience I will never forget. I plan to return to Arizona and hopefully Jasper and Joseph with my two grown children who were also raised riding horses. After they heard how much I loved my adventure, they want to plan a trip for the 3 of us.

This is my second year in a row to go out for a full day ride, and my first time with Milton Joseph. As was the case last year, it was another fantastic time and Joseph was a superb guide. Upon request, I was able to be paired up with another experienced rider and horse owner (Karen). So that added to the fun, and resulted in a new friend. We have already talked out going out together next year as there is a good chance we'll be there together again. One new adventure for me was seeing rattle snakes - luckily hearing them first! While I wasn't about to get off my horse to take a closer look, Joseph did and managed to get some memorable pictures on my camera, which I have attached. Because of his knowledge of their behavior, it wasn't as scary as I would have thought. But, I was happy watching from a safe distance on top of my reliable stead! At my request, I was able to ride the same horse as last year, the lovely Arial. Certainly an adventure I would recommend again for experienced riders that want some fun on horse-back away from home. And the only way, in my opinion, to really enjoy the desert scenery.

My wife is an expert rider and I have never been on a horse in my life, but Barry made it a great experience for both of us. Views were fantastic and the horses seemed very well trained and were matched to our differing experience. Well worth the time and money.

Wonderful! It snowed the night before, and the "natives" were giddy. We saw snowmen perched on car roofs and snowball fights in nearby golf courses en route to the trailhead. Barry met us on two beautiful roping quarterhorses and took us up and down challenging trails. The vistas were gorgeous; the snow on top of saguaro cactus and the waterfall equally so. My novice riding wife did more trotting than she ever had, and I cantered wherever the footing and slopes permitted. Barry willingly answered all of our equine care and handling questions. We want to go back - this was a truly memorable experience! Many thanks to everyone at Windwalker for enabling us to do this!

What a wonderful adventure! We can't thank our guide Debbie enough; it was such a treat to ride her beautiful and trail-savvy horses over some of the most beautiful desert terrain we've ever seen. Once she saw we knew what we were doing, she led us up a magnificent ridge where the views were spectacular. Then down through some washes and canyons. All in all, a great ride. We're already planning a return trip next year and hope to make it a full day ride next time. This is such a fantastic concept, so different from the typical "trail ride" where it's nose-to-tail and no adventure. It may seem expensive but it's more than worth it for a ride you won't forget. Thank you!
